#1

the origins of the RESPECT project

2nd November

Hello!

Thank you for registering to attend our 2nd Clean Sport Insight Forum. We are really looking forward to hosting the event and bringing together the clean sport community (albeit, from the comfort of your homes/offices!). We admit, it's taken us a while to overcome the disappointment of not being able to bring everyone together in beautiful Slovenia. However, we all recognise that when faced with a global health pandemic, we have to be find alternative ways of collaborating. For now, virtual gatherings are the way forward.

Recognising that virtual events are not the same as face-to-face events, we are keen to build momentum prior to the Forum. In doing so, we hope to maximise engagement when we come together.  Therefore, over the next five weeks we will be sharing some of the outputs from our RESPECT EU Erasmus+ Collaborative Partnership project.

the origins of the RESPECT project

RESPECT stands for Research-Embedded Strategic Plan for Anti-Doping Education: Clean Sport Alliance Initiative for Tackling Doping.

Prof Sue Backhouse, from Leeds Beckett University, is a founding member of the Clean Sport Alliance (CSA). In this short video she talks about the origins of the RESPECT project and provides a brief overview of the resulting outputs. She also talks about the purpose of the Clean Sport Alliance, and what unites the team.

Get involved!

If you have any questions on the RESPECT project, send them to us ahead of the Clean Sport Insight Forum. We will collate all the questions and hope to answer as many as possible during the live event.

Pia Braun's voice

In 2019, we invited numerous international athletes to voice their thoughts and opinions on clean sport and anti-doping. In their own words they told us about the challenges of competing as clean athletes. This collaborative and participatory process led to the creation of the Athlete Voices video series.

Today, we are delighted to release our fourth video in the series, titled Pia's Voice.
