Athlete voices

'clean' has multiple meanings

The Clean Sport Alliance presents a series of videos on the topic of Clean Sport. In 2019, we invited numerous international athletes to voice their thoughts and opinions on clean sport and anti-doping. Here they tell us in their own words about the challenges of competing as clean athletes.

The videos show that that ‘clean sport’ is a complex notion with multiple interacting segments.  They highlight both the similarities and the differences between them.  The athletes share a clean athlete identity, but each have their own individual take on what performance-enhancing methods, behaviours or substances are regarded as ‘clean’.
